Enjoy the Skills

 Enjoy the Skills

Good character is not just a spiritual virtue — it's a lived, daily practice that transforms relationships and wins hearts. The story of Ali bin al-Jahm shows that people aren't inherently flawed; they're shaped by their environment,

and a change in surroundings can spark a remarkable change in personality. This means we too can consciously reshape ourselves — trading frowns for smiles, anger for patience, and stinginess for generosity. The Prophet ﷺ is the ultimate model here: his kindness wasn't a public performance — it was equally present at home, with his family, children, and servants. True character doesn't switch off behind closed doors. Many people are generous with strangers yet cold with those who deserve their warmth the most — their parents, spouses, and children. Real excellence lies in being your best self to those closest to you. And rather than complaining about the wrongs around you, take action to fix them — don't curse the darkness, light a lamp.
